Djay (Terrance Howard) does a phenomenal job playing a pimp in Memphis trying to make it as a rapper. When he is inspired to become a rapper, his friends Key and Shelby (played by Anthony Anderson and DJ Qualls) help him create his tracks. Each of the friends has their own speciality and together, they become a great team. Djay and his family (friends and hookers - he has no real family) eventually work together and make great music.
